This week, I had the pleasure of cruising Morro Bay with Alan Rackov of Lost Isle Adventure. He has a new tiki tour boat that tours Morro Bay, the Back Bay, (going to Los Osos, if the tide permits) and best of all (in my mind) he docks at the sand spit! (For those of you who don't know what the sand spit is, it's part of Montana de Oro State Park, and from Morro Bay, it's a relatively small strip of sand, that protects the bay itself.) One 15 minute walk, over the dunes, brings you to an isolated beach that, I dare say, one can lay out nay-kid and never see another person all day! (Well, maybe one or two people).
He offers tours everyday from 11am-sunset, for $10 each (adult), and his boat seats 28 people.
Back in the day (you'll get an idea of how old I truly am here) we didn't have cell phones, so to get to the sand spit, you either kayaked over, rowed over, or had someone drop you off, hoping that your 'friends' would remember to pick you up at the end of the day! With Captain Alan at the helm, it's simply a phone call away! You can stay at the sand spit for one hour, two hours, three hours, (you get my drift!...My drift! ahhhahahahahaha!! get it? )
It is a magical place to hold an event, get engaged, have a wedding ceremony...
I have one bride that really wants to get married and hold the reception over there...Yikes! Can you just imagine that call to the caterers!
Alan can be reached at 805-440-8170, or here.
