Laura & Steve

Ah, Laura and Steve. Laurasita!
Laura and I first met while we were working in a restaurant together, in Morro Bay. Then we continued to work together at Phoenix Fine Catering, located in San Luis Obispo. When I asked if she needed/wanted my help at her wedding, in San Diego, she graciously said "Yes, please" After working with her at the catering company, and having coordinated quite a few weddings, I knew that her vendors would all be the best, and be awesome. Basically,my job would be very easy!
Steve has to be the happiest person I've ever met. I mean, really, truly happy ALL the time. They're a good couple together, and I was thrilled to finally meet the man that won Laurasita's heart.
I got down to San Diego on Wednesday, after being in touch with her vendors, and creating the time line. They got married on the military base, and the venue does weddings basically every weekend, so there really was not too much to be done, right? Right?

Well, the day before the wedding, as the rental company was setting up the tent, the storm of the century moved in. What should have been a fairly easy set-up for them was taking a verrrry long time, as the wind kept switching, and making the tent set-up almost impossible.I went out to the site, thinking I'd be there for a few questions, maybe an hour?...5 hours later, we're still trying to decide if the tent is going to hold up overnight.
The next morning, I get a phone call from the rental company, asking what time I was planning on getting to the venue. (It's 7:30 am) I tell them I wasn't planning on getting there until 11:00am..."Um, Jennifer...do you think you could come out now....?" I get out there, the whole 100' X 40' tent has moved itself over by 5', 1/2 of it had collapsed over night, and the big storm was due in that afternoon! Aye yay yay!
Laurasita of course knew nothing about any of this until we talked a couple weeks later! Seriously, until right before the ceremony, we had leaks (no, waterfalls of water) coming down onto fully set tables, the DJ was aghast when I showed him where to set up "Um. No can do. Too much water"..
Everything worked out perfectly, as you can tell by the pictures, but it always goes to show you/me...when you think it's gonna be a piece of cake, think again, and be prepared for anything!
Love to Laura & Steve!!!!

  1. Oh Jennifer! You did an amazing job! We had so much fun at our wedding. We were so grateful for you to be a part of it. After being behind the scenes with you at so many weddings I didn't think that I was truly going to be able to enjoy mine. But because of you and all your experience, tact and calm assertiveness, our wedding was FLAWLESS. Who says rain on your wedding day is bad? I thought it couldn't have been more beautiful! Thank you from the bottom of my heart! Love, Laura
